Gerbera Cups - The packaging solution to protect the gerbera flower!
|
|
Established in 2005 by Sander Kerst, InvaRoses is a company specializing the production and propagation of cut flower roses for the Australian market. From its inception InvaRoses has implemented the latest in horticultural technology into both its production greenhouse, and its newly developed propagation house, to ensure the quality and consistency of product required in today's highly competitive market.
InvaRoses
grow their roses hydroponically on raised benches in coco peat. The coco peat is
available in bags of various dimensions, and can be formulated to suit the crop.
Different mixes are available, depending on how coarse, or fine, a medium is
required. Growing in bags creates easier access to the root zone to monitor
growth, moisture content, temperature, and nutrient levels. If a variety becomes
problematic or unsustainable, the bags (and crop) are simply removed and
replaced.
The greenhouse was constructed, with the crop and location taken into consideration, by local company H&A Products. The structure stands 3.5m to the gutter, and has an automatic ventilation system. A specially designed bench system has also made possible efficient waste water collection. The production and propagation aspects of the business are computer monitored, ensuring a stable and appropriate climate in what are often variably fluctuating conditions. The Drip Irrigation is additionally monitored via computer, enabling steady nutrient flow throughout the crop. The entire watering system has been installed by industry specialists 'Kerst Horticultural Projects.' Quality and quantity of available water has become a major issue for many. The recent addition of a state of the art BACTOKILL UV disinfection unit to the property has alleviated such pressure. Ensuring a sanitary and consistent water supply throughout the drier months. Free of bacteria, virus' and diseases. Along with the dam water being cleaned the unit also treats the waste water with minimal effects on nutrients. This allows safe recycling, as well a substantial saving on annual fertilizer costs.
InvaRoses is
also one of the licensed propagators in Australia to propagate the Preesman rose
varieties. Many Preesman varieties are currently on the Australian market, the
best selling of which are; Bianca, Bianca Candy, F. Green, Gletsjer, Passion,
Purple Temptation, High & Magic, High & Mighty and Upper Cloud.
On June 21st and 22nd , InvaRoses, in conjunction with Roskam Young Plants Pty Ltd, organized an open day to showcase the latest releases of the Preesman rose varieties. Many of the visiting growers from around Australia were impressed with the bud size, shape, and colour of the High & Mighty (Pink/Mauve), and Gletsjer (Pure White). In an already competitive market, which is constantly fluctuating, variety selection is paramount to a successful business. The increasing number of imported roses making it into the domestic market is also accentuating pressure on local growers, particularly through lower yielding seasons, enhancing the importance of variety selection. Preesman offers a wide range of varieties and colours, some of which are well established and proven in local Australian markets. For more information on any of these varieties, or to make an appointment to visit InvaRoses please feel free to contact Sander Kerst of InvaRoses or Job Roskam of Roskam Young Plants Pty Ltd.
